Shahid Kardar

Mr. Shahid Kardar is a prominent Pakistani economist, academic, and policymaker known for his contributions to public finance, governance, and economic reform in Pakistan. He has held influential positions in both government and academic institutions. 

Mr. Kardar has served as the Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan. During his tenure, he focused on monetary policy reform and financial sector stability, fostering economic growth despite challenging fiscal conditions. He has also served as the acting Punjab Minister for Finance, Planning & Development, Excise and Taxation and Industries & Minerals Development from November 1999 to January 2001. Over the years, Mr. Kardar has been a consultant for various international organizations, including the World Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB), and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), advising on issues of governance, education, and fiscal policy.

Mr. Kardar is a strong advocate for improving education in Pakistan. He has been associated with several initiatives aimed at reforming Pakistan's education system and improving access to quality education. He has served as the Vice-Chancellor of Beaconhouse National University in Lahore.
