Mehnaz Akbar Aziz

Ms. Mehnaz Akber Aziz is a former member of the national assembly and parliamentary secretary of law and justice. Her passion, within and outside the parliament, remains child and gender mainstreaming and empowerment. She has dedicated her life for child rights and education in marginalized areas through her organization Children’s Global Network. 

Ms. Aziz is result oriented and decisive, with proven success in the development sector. She has over twenty years of experience in social sector reforms with an emphasis on improving public sector delivery systems and building capacity and networks of private sector. She has a focus on strengthening civil society organizations to create innovative models to respond to the challenges faced by the Pakistan’s social sector. Ms. Aziz is a committed advocate of change with vast experience in bringing together stakeholders including parliamentarians, academia, public sector, civil society, judiciary, media, minorities and international stakeholders. 

During her term as the member of national assembly, Ms. Aziz led the parliamentary discourse on child rights and women’s issues. She undertook key legislative initiatives, including Prohibition of Corporal Punishment Bill 2021, Rights of Domestic Workers Bill 2021, and Dyslexia Special Measures Bill 2021, showing her dedication to these causes. At the 50th anniversary of constitution of Pakistan she led the parliamentary constitutional review through women’s lens, showing her dedication to the cause.
